My sweet little cuppy-cakies!!

Thanks to y'all's awesome responses, we have some creepy crazy "Win a BLISS Shirt" contest ideas--JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN!

There are LOTS of ways to win...

Define "bliss." Now define horror. How can the two concepts be linked? (I know it sounds like something boring scintillating your English teacher tells ya to do… but hey, it’s all about the t-shirt!)

Carve a pumpkin with BLISS in mind…. Take a pic and send it to me at lauren@laurenmyracle.com so that I can post it on my blog!

Compare a scary experience in BLISS to your scariest moment.

Throw on your amazing Halloween costume creation (you need to try it out anyway, right?) and take a picture of you holding a copy of BLISS!

Host a BLISS Halloween party and send me pics! (You could make a Bliss cake, spell out Bliss in spider webs, you and your friends could take a pic spelling out Bliss with your bodies… etc etc etc...)

See how many copies of BLISS you can get in one place… how many friends you can gather!! Take a pic and send it to me at the snail mail addy above.

Do something fun and fabulous to spread the BLISS love using the spooky BLISS book trailer. Post it to your MySpace or Facebook profile, send a link to your buds, borrow a bullhorn and troll the streets announcing the URL...the opportunities are endless. Be creative--and report back about what sort of response you get!

So those are your options, 'kay? You can do one or more than one, whatever strikes your fancy. If it's a written thingie, post it to this blog entry. If it's a pic, send it to me and I'll post to this entry!

Who wins, you ask? Well...I have LOTS of shirts...so what's to stop me from naming LOTS of winners?!!

What are ya waiting for? Get on it, my pretties! Contest ends on...hrmmm...Halloween! (But hey, I'll send shirts out earlier if y'all send entries in earlier. That way you can wear them pre-Halloween. They *do* have blood dripping down them, after all.)

Lauren, how about the "State Your State" contest? Don't tell me that's over! I am VERY close to 50 and I'm not telling you how. *evil laugh* I may post them sometime this week. Or the next, depending on, um... things. :D
Oh, and that "Take A Picture Of Yourself Holding Bliss While In Alaska" how about that? Is that over too? Not that I'll win that, Arizona's FAR from being Alaska.

~Carmela

p.s. Is Puerto Rico considered a state in the U.S? I'm weak in Geography. :p

Carmela, you just keep doing your...evil laugh things. Whatever they may be. Post 'em when you're ready on this entry, and if they're evil enough--a t-shirt is yours!

(But not EVIL evil, of course. Just yay-BLISS-wicked-evil...)

And ALASKA IS ABSOLUTELY STILL ON. Don't any of you nuts have friends in Alaska you can email????????

Re: state our state
Oh, Lauren! I FINALLY found all Bliss books in all 50 states! Of course, I wouldn't find all of them if it weren't for the help of all the people who stated their state. (THANK YOU!) But they weren't complete so I decided to search EVERY FREAKING STATE's library catalog. When I was searching New Mexico, I found this:

http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/191767578&referer=brief_results

It's the world catalog for Bliss. (They have it in New Zealand too!) But the list wasn't complete either, so I searched Barnes and Noble's site for Bliss in the area. That completed this list.

1) Colorado
2) Georgia
3) Indiana
4) Michigan
5) New York
6) Texas
7) Virginia
8) Maryland
9) California
10) Conneticut
11) Missouri
12) Ohio
13) Massachusetts
14) Wisconsin
15) Washington
16) Pennsylvania
17) Florida
18) Arizona
19) Tennessee (we stopped here in your blog. i think)
20) Alabama
21) Delaware
22) Hawaii
23) Idaho
24) Illinois
25) Iowa
26) Kansas
27) Kentucky
28) Maine
29) Minnesota
30) Mississippi
31) Montana
32) Nebraska
33) New Jersey
34) New Mexico
35) Oklahoma
36) Oregon
37) Utah
38) Wyoming
39) Arkansas
40) North Dakota
41) North Carolina
42) Rhode Island
43) South Carolina
44) Alaska
45) New Hampshire
46) West Virginia
47) Vermont
48) Louisiana
49) Nevada
50) South Dakota

Finding Vermont was hard. I think I only found one library that have Bliss there. But (!!!) I completed it! Yay!

~Carmela:D

p.s. See #44? ALASKA!! And guess what?! I found it at...

"Bliss
Myracle, Lauren, 1969-

1 copy available at Wasilla High School in Fiction Collection"

...a HIGH SCHOOL! Yay them!

And dear Book Chic, you get half a shirt for being such a trooper. JK. Send me your addy and I'll get you one, too!

Bonus points (or a shirt) for ANYONE who finds a way to email librarian at Wasilla High School and pass along contest deets... THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!!!!!!!!!! I want an Alaskan to take a picture of her/himself with Bliss, I do I do!!!!

Re: state our state
Um, you see, I found the librarian's email. But for the past week our computer's pretty screwed up. My fault. I can't see my Yahoo! Mail and send a message. Besides, I don't know what to say to her and um, I'm shy. Hehe.
So no bonus points for me until the PC's fix.

Re: state our state
Okay. Find email. Go to public computer, even one at school. Tell your librarian why you need to use it and that I said to please let you. ;) Then email Wasilla librarian and tell her how excited I was to find out--through your great investigative powers!--that BLISS is on her shelves. And then explain the whole contest thing and just ask her to spread the word to her readers. And give her the link to this particular blog entry! Easy-peasy.

And it would be so cool!!!!

Heck, message ME her email addy. I'll email her!

Wooo! *happy dance* I fixed the computer today. But it's pretty slow. And I stil want you to email the librarian. (Did you received my LJ message?)
Or, you could give others a chance to email her. I bet they want BLISS shirts too. I can see one down there. ~Carmela:D

My scariest experience.
My mommy and I went kayaking, and because we did not know what we were doing we veered of course and and hit the rocky cliffside. We capsized. My mommy does not know how to swim, so the only things going thru my head were "Do not use arms! that will only make it harder to breathe! Get mommy out from under the stupid kayak! She is gonna DIE!"
So I got my mommy out from under the kayak, I got her to not flail about, just hold my hand while I pulled her and tugged the damned kayak. The people got us out safely, well mostly, when i kicked to get away from the rock i kicked an urchin. MAN THAT IS PAINFUL! And because the boat did not have a doctor aboard i had to wait till we got ashore at 5pm, then wait for the doctor. When he finally got there it took almost three hours to get them all out. He said I was lucky i did not step on one of the brown urchins, they are apparently poisonous.
All this for my mommy, i love her very much. I was mostly worried about her but it is all Fool!
DO NOT STEP ON THE BROWN SEA URCHINS!

I actually copy and pasted that from my old blog.
Now compare to the final showdown betweem Bliss and Sandy and the toilet float. I'd go in to more detail, but i don't want to spoil.

owwwwie!!!!! poor hilly! being trapped underwater is one of my most terrifying fears. add an urchin in (of course, I thought of a poor street urchin, from India perhaps), and you're really topping the fear charts.

I am SO glad you and your mom are safe and still breathing!

(And thanks for being spoiler-free! I appreciate!)

Dear Lauren,
I'm so disapointed. My Bliss still hasn't come yet! You said you sent out another copy, but that hasn't come either. Why didn't you put one of those tracking things on it, considering it's a collectors item? I'm really sad I haven't gotten to read it. This isn't fair. My mom says I cant go out to the bookstore and just buy it, because I have to wait to receive it from you. C'mon Lauren. It's been over a month now.
From, Maria (the winner, incase u forgot.)

Maria, I am so sorry, too! And...it's just plain weird. I'll send a third copy PRIORITY MAIL on Monday. Just, please, share the BLISS love around when/if the other two show up!

(Every so often, the USPS lets me down. I've had manuscripts lost, etc. But usually they're pretty good!)

Keep your chin up, M. And of course I haven't forgotten who you are, you red-eyed camel girl! You have every right to be disappointed...just, ya know, be disappointed in the USPS, not me! ;)

Horror and Bliss
Horror is not knowing what's around the corner.

Horror is not knowing if you're going to die of live.

Horror is preparing for the unexpected.

Which you can never expect.

Bliss is all of these things.

Look behind you.

Someone's there.

Me.

I am horror. I am Bliss.

No More Bandages for THIS heart
Hi everyone. It's me, Hailey. Do y'all remember in July, when I was wondering if i should break up with Max cuz I didn't see him too much cuz of his job at the country club? And how he would leave at like 1:00 P.M. and come back EXHAUSTED at night? And he'd give me his little excuses like, "Oh, there was a private pool party that went REALLY late.

Then, in like, the last week of July, Daisy surprised me and my dad with a trip to a little cottage by the ocean. It was fun, we stayed there till the second week of August. I texted Max everyday, he usually responded with stuff like, "Miss U so much, babe!" or or "Can't wait till you come home!" or sometimes he wouldn't respond at all.

Max called me on August 17th, and told me, "Hey, Hailey! Come to the country club at 9:30 and pick me up. We can go to Sonic and get slushies! :)" The country club is close to a Pizza Hut. So, I had Daisy drop me off at the country club, max and I could walk to the Pizza hut. i got all dolled up, I put on a dab of mascara and smidge of eyeliner. I wore this pretty blue tank top from American eagle, and wore my fave pair of shorts.

At 9:00 I went to the country club, I figured Max wouldn't mind me being early. It closes at 7:30, but Max gave me the key to open the door. When I got to the pool, he wasn't there. "Max? It's me Hailey." I loudly whispered. I heard soft giggling. "Max?" I went to the shed behind the jaccuzi, where the pool toys were stored, the padlock wasn't on it. "Max?" I called softly. I opened the door, it was really dark, "Max? are you in here?" I called quietly. I heard a VERY soft giggling, then I heard the faintest Shhh! I stepped threee steps out of the shed and DEFINETLY HEARD SOMETHING. Silently, I crept to the shed and peered in and saw Max. And Vera. Kissing.

I felt a whole wave of emotions. I felt angry at Max, I also felt stupid, I was gone for like 2 weeks, did I expect Max to not fool around with someone else? I felt betrayed, he promised he won't cheat on me again, he PROMISED. I felt sad, but it's obvious why I felt sad. I felt jealous, Vera had her pick of any guy in school, but she picked MAX, and this is kind of embarassing, but I also felt jealous cuz max never kissed ME like that.

"Max? It's me Hailey. What are you doing?" I said close to tears. No response. Then I got MAD. he lied and cheated on me for the last time! I was NOT going to take this crap any longer! "MAX, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" I yelled. Max moved from the corner he and Vera were leanin on, "Whoa, you need to chill babe." he said, I could see his hair messed up and he was sweaty. "Max, what are you doing?!" I said again. "Well, um, me and Vera, well, I guess we, um, OK, uh . . ." "Max, tell me RIGHT NOW what happened." "Ok, well, this is kind of normal." he said. "What? What do you mean normal?" "Well, after the first week of my job, Vera asked me to put sunscreen on her back, and I couldn't say no, cuz it's my job to serve people at the country club. But when I felt her smooth skin, , it just felt so natural, like I'd been away from her too long. Then one night she kissed me, and I relized that I love her. But then you left on vaccation. Vera told me she liked me. Alot. So, I , well she and i realized WE missed eachother. And well, Hailey to be honest, I don't think you really wre as interested in me as Vera. anyway, this is where Vera and I would come each night. I'm really sorry Hailey."

"Well, why did you text me Max? Telling me to go to Sonic with you?" "Because, I wanted to tell you there. And I told you to come at NINE THIRTY, not NINE O'CLOCK." "Yeah," said Vera, wearing a tiny string bikiini standing up, "Can't you follow a simple direction and show up when you wre told?" "Shut up, Vera." I hissed, "And Max, if anyone was the bad person in this relationship, it was YOU, not me. And we are DONE. D-O-N-E, DONE!
I gave you to chances and you blew both of them! You think my heart is just some thing you can break and then break again? YOU cheated, YOU lied, and YOU RUINED THIS WHOLE DAMN RELATIONSHIP!" I stormed out and didn't look back.

Sorry, Lauren, for not tellin you about how I was going to do something for BLISS. I relly can't wait to read it. Love ya lauren.

(And if you *want* a shirt, I'll sure send you one. Just send your snail mail addy with the subject line "T-SHIRT FOR HAILEY" to lauren@laurenmyracle.com, and give me your snail mail addy. But Vera? NO T-SHIRT FOR VERA!!!!!)

Re: No More Bandages for THIS heart
Such a loser. HE is a loser. You should've told him to go to, uh, hell. That excuse with the sunscreen is so lame. And if he was going to tell you he's with Vera, he should've said something like, "Hey, Hailey! Come to the country club at 9:30. We can go to Sonic and get slushies! I HAVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING(!)"
Sigh. You did the right thing, Hailey. :D

Okay,I know that message wasnt meant for me, but I just want to say something here. You did the right thing. Max is a moron. He cheated on you, and if he felt that way about Vera, he should've ended your relationship as soon as he felt feelings toward another woman.Vera is a shit face because she knew he was with you and she actually had the nerve to go that far with a man in a relationship. And as for you, you are the most brilliant person I have seen on here in a long time. I understand your sadness. I understand your pain. I know youre probably looking at my message saying "What the f she doesnt understand" but I do. And if you ever want to talk, or vent out your saddness or frustration, let me know.

No problems
Don't mention it. Actually, this didn't happen to ME, but to my mother. I know my mother better than anyone else. We are almost like sisters. I had to hear an explaination from my mother when I was eleven on why daddy didn't love mommy anymore. On why daddy didn't think I was enough for him, on why he wanted a new baby to make him happy. My father talked to me about it, but all I understood was that he didn't love me anymore. I had to listen to my mother cry and cry in the night. You're lucky you did'nt marry Max when you got older. That would have been hell for you.

Bliss Shirt is totally worth a slightly humiliating story.
One of the creepiest experiences from the book is when Bliss is on the third floor looking for someone and realizes she is alone and that no one else goes on this floor because of the rumors that evolve around it. Instead of turning around she keeps going and is lead to a locked door by a voice she’s hearing…one that is not her own, and that’s where things start getting scary.

Alright I tried not to put any spoilers in so hopefully its okay. Anyway my scary experience really isn’t as chilling as that but it seemed that way back then. During fifth grade a rumor started going around that after school a few kids went into the girl’s bathroom and asked to see the Francis Spirit who the school was named after. Someone heard that she was buried on the grounds and still haunted the pink lavatories. Well the kids started screaming and said they were hearing things. I for one was not convinced and said I would do the same thing during the day, my two friends and I walked in after lunch and after saying her name a few times a pipe squeaked, they freaked out and ran. Nice friends I know, trying to be brave I stayed and said her name a few times. The noises started up again and I realized I was alone! I was really freaked out but my feet felt glued to the floor and my heart started beating faster eventually after I thought I saw a door move I scrambled out and rushed up to tell my friends I was never going to the bathroom in school again.

Actually now that I read that it’s kind of embarrassing aha.
